Watershed Wood Goes Broadway - April 12, 2007
The furniture of two Catskill Watershed artisans - Judd Weisberg and Jonah Meyer - is a current feature in ABC Home & Carpet's Grounded collection that showcases the company's commitment to offering beautifully crafted furniture to their customers with the planet's resources in mind. The pieces were unveiled at a recent party at the flagship store in Manhattan to launch The Green - a new series on the Sundance Channel featuring ways people throughout the world are leading more sustainable lives by reducing their environmental footprints.
Weisberg creates hand-made furnishings from driftwood and figured hardwoods native to the streams and reservoirs of the Catskill Watershed and stated that he was " honored and excited " to be a part of the mission at ABC. Collin Miller, a Forester with the Watershed Agricultural Council was also on hand at the party to illustrate the importance of sustainable forestry in the context of watershed protection. " We have a great opportunity here to tell our story," stated Miller, "and making the connection between forests, wood, and sustained water quality in the Catskills is vital to communicate to New Yorkers who depend on forests everyday to keep their water clean."
