4/4/2012 WANTED -- BUYERS of SMALL DIAMETER SOFTWOOD. The New York City Department of Environmental Protection oversees over 100,000 acres of watershed forestland in the Catskill and Hudson Valley regions. Thousands of acres of these lands were planted to white and red pine, norway spruce and larch 50-100 years ago. Viable markets are needed for small diameter (less than 10 inches DBH) trees, suitable for roundwood construction, furniture or biomass. 3/11/2013 Woodsmen's Festival at Hanford Mills Museum Saturday, May 4, 10 am-5 pm Hanford Mills Museum 51 County Hwy 12, East Meredith, NY 13757 607-278-5744 www.hanfordmills.org The Woodsmen's Festival features lumberjack skills, timber frame building, coopering, and woodworking demonstrations. Watch sawdust fly as logs are sawn on the Museum's circular sawmill, powered by a 1926 Fitz Overshot waterwheel. The day also features kids' activities, guided Mill tours, and food and book sales. Kids 12 and under receive free admission. Adults and Teens, $8.50; Seniors, $6.50. Museum members receive free admission.
3/26/2012 WOODWORKING CLASSES AT BYRDCLIFFE In establishing woodworking at Byrdcliffe, it is Paul Henderson's intention to help reintroduce the woodworking and furniture design aspect of the Byrdcliffe Art Colony. This year's woodworking classes, combining machine and hand techniques, at Byrdcliffe will start in May, 2012.
