Reclaimed Wood & Urban Tree Milling in the Hudson Valley Since 1980

Company Profile:
Jeff Olsen intercepts logs from the waste-stream by establishing networks with tree service companies, municipalities and properties throughout the Hudson River Valley. A careful salvage logger and portable sawyer, Olsen's eco-friendly approach of utilizing pieces he considers "too good for firewood" has the interests of woodworkers in search of specialty hardwood lumber. Logs are flitched in sequence producing rough cut live-edged slabs in various thicknesses and widths having a distinct visceral appeal.

Farmer Jones Barns, Inc.

Bob Jones started Farmer Jones Barns in 1971. The son of a carpenter, Bob began working at his trade at age 16. After a two-year stint in the service, he married, left his lifelong home in the Catskills and moved to Rockland County where he worked for the carpenter's union. Missing life in these mountains, he left the union, sold his home and headed back to Shandaken where his construction and building of storage sheds has grown from a side business into a full-time family operation of manufacturing lumber, design, building and installation of prefab "baby barns".
