Mid-Atlantic Wood Expo: Another Tradeshow Success
On March 28 & 29, 2007 in Edison, NJ Sloane Crawford, a Marketing & Utilization Forester for the NYS Dept. of Environmental Conservation (left) and Collin Miller of the NYC Watershed Agricultural Council (right) visited with over 100 companies that stopped by the New York State Forest Products booth to " talk shop" and make specific inquiries with regards to where to buy a variety of wood products made or harvested in the Empire State. Throughout both days of the show, hundreds of free directories of primary & secondary wood products manufacturers were distributed.
A special plug was given to Catskill WoodNet and Catskill-based manufacturers that work in partnership with programs to encourage forestry as a preferred use to protect water quality in the New York City Watershed.
Over the past 4 years, the WAC/ DEC partnership has engaged in marketing activities throughout the eastern United States - Atlanta, Hartford, Greensboro, Manhattan, Brooklyn, etc. - that connect retail and wholesale buyers with New York State wood-based businesses and introduce woodworking and interior design professionals to buying wood products from sustainable forest products companies in the Catskill Watershed Region.
The duo plans to make their next stop at the 2008 New England Woodworking Expo in Hatford, CT.

New England Wood Pellet Plans Purchase of Norbord MDF
DEPOSIT, NY -
New England Wood Pellet LLC (NEWP), a privately-held manufacturer and distributor of wood pellet fuels, and Norbord Inc., a publicly-traded manufacturer of composite wood panel products (TSX:NBD) today announced that they have executed definitive agreements whereby NEWP will acquire Norbord’s Deposit NY land and property and commence construction of a new wood pellet manufacturing facility.
