Catskill WoodNet Recruits New Members with Web Marketing Seminars

Over several months in 2007, the Watershed Agricultural Council's (WAC) Forestry Program staff conducted a series of evening sessions in various internet classrooms to show owners and representatives of Catskill wood products firms how to create their own web listing using Catskill WoodNet. The goals of the workshops were to introduce beginner-level computer users and those without access to high-speed internet connection with using Catskill WoodNet for marketing their wood products business.

Collin Miller, a WAC Forester managing the project, explains, “The goals of the new web site are threefold: 1) generate sales leads and internet visibility for Catskill WoodNet members; 2) provide an on-line resource that creates networking opportunities for the region’s wood products firms; and 3) educate consumers about sustainable forestry and watershed protection in the Catskill Region.”

“The meetings encouraged on-site member registration in Catskill WoodNet by showcasing key web site features and illustrating our strategy for implementing a successful web marketing campaign. They also provided woodworkers and sawmill owners a chance to meet each other and network a bit.,” says Miller.

Membership to Catskill WoodNet is free and open to wood products businesses in Delaware, Greene, Otsego, Schoharie, Sullivan, and Ulster Counties. In special cases, businesses located outside these counties, who demonstrate a connection or provide a valuable service to the WoodNet, are eligible to enroll.

If you missed one of the meetings and would still like to join the membership or have a personal tutorial of Catskill WoodNet's web site, call Collin Miller at (607) 865-7790 ext 112 to schedule an appointment, register online, or download the Catskill WoodNet Membership Application Form from the web site.
